چکیده

We examine the local density of states and the momentum-dependent distribution functions as they evolve in time for systems described by the FalicovKimball model initially in equilibrium, and then driven by a large uniform electric field turned on at time t = 0. We use exact dynamical mean-field theory, extended to nonequilibrium situations, to solve the problem. We focus on the accuracy of the numerics and on the interesting new features brought about by the strong correlations.

Steady-state nonequilibrium density of States of driven strongly correlated lattice models in infinite dimensions.

An exact formalism for calculating the retarded and advanced Green's functions of strongly correlated lattice models in a uniform electric field is derived within dynamical mean-field theory. To illustrate the method, we solve for the nonequilibrium density of states of the Hubbard model in both the metallic and Mott-insulating phases at half-filling (with an arbitrary strength electric field) ...

Electronic transport in Si and Au monoatomic chains considering strongly correlation effect, a first principle study

We have investigated structure and electronic properties of Au and Si liner chains using the firstprinciplesplane wave pseudopotential method. The transport properties and conductance of these twoliner chains are studied using Landauer approaches based on density functional theory (DFT). Weobtain density of states and band gap using Kohn-Sham and Wannier functions as well as quantumconductivity...

Photoinduced insulator-metal transition in correlated electrons — a Floquet analysis with the dynamical mean-field theory

In order to investigate photoinduced insulator-metal transitions observed in correlated electron systems, we propose a new theoretical method, where we combine a Floquetmatrix method for AC-driven systems with the dynamical mean-field theory. The method can treat nonequilibrium steady states exactly beyond the linear-response regime. We have applied the method to the Falicov-Kimball model coupl...

Quantum phase transition in the two-band hubbard model.

The interaction between itinerant and Mott localized electronic states in strongly correlated materials is studied within dynamical mean field theory in combination with the numerical renormalization group method. A novel nonmagnetic zero temperature quantum phase transition is found in the bad-metallic orbital-selective Mott phase of the two-band Hubbard model, for values of the Hund's exchang...

Strongly correlated multilayered nanostructures near the Mott transition

We examine devices constructed out of multilayered sandwiches of semi-infinite metal–barrier–semi-infinite metal, with the barrier tuned to lie near the quantum critical point of the Mott metal-insulator transition. By employing dynamical mean field theory, we are able to solve the many-body problem exactly (within the local approximation) and determine the density of states through the nanostr...
